just a reminder that people who create fanwork do not owe you anything. writing fanfiction, drawing fanart etc is entirely voluntary and something that should be done for fun!! putting pressure on someone to put out the next chapter of their fic isn't helping anyone, especially since most fandom creators are students and/or have a job, and also just. have a life. they have friends and family and things to do. and to people who create content, thank you!! you're appreciated!!
this is why stopped writing for so long because it felt like a chore and people (especially in one fandom) don’t understand that you can’t demand something just because you want it. and that anyone who creates stuff doesn’t do it just for you. i don’t write for others (except for my friend who gets sent almost everything i make). i write for myself

if you ever read something of mine, and i saw something is used to help with something and you think ‘omg, oranges work AMAZING for that!’ don’t say it. i don’t care
everytime i read something and it says anything about oranges, i stare at it, hating everything because WHY THE FUCK WAS I CURSED TO BE ALLERGIC TO ANYTHING IN THE ORANGE FAMILY AND GRAPEFRUITS?!
With a lot of new people entering the fandom, I thought it’d be fun to go over some things I’ve heard flying around that aren’t really… true. Not everyone has the ability to play the games, and the lore can be tricky to navigate, so hopefully this will help!
1. The spelling of Hunnigan’s name– From what I understand, there was confusion on the RE wiki several years ago where her name was listed as “Hannigan” (an Irish last name). Hunnigan appears to be an uncommon spelling; when you google it, it autocorrect to hannigan. But in the games and canon itself, her name is spelled with a U.
2. Leon killed a bunch of people during the chase in Vendetta– Honestly, I can’t blame the fans for this one. When you look at the movie, that’s exactly what it looks like, but the movie left out some crucial information that can be found in the canon novelization. The people in the cars are actually Arias’s men, who were sent to take out Leon and the rest of the team. As such, Leon was intentionally trying to kill them, along with the zombie dogs.
3. Chris isn’t smart and can’t read– Even though Chris is very popular, he gets a lot of hate. Just like any popular character in media, there is a lot of misinterpretations and misunderstandings. There’s a line in the original Resident Evil (1996) where it jokes about Chris not being able to read. A lot of people ran with this and assumed that meant Chris couldn’t read books, but in this instance, it’s specifically talking about his ability to read piano sheet music. And while I disagree with the notion that someone’s ability to read is connected to their intelligence, Chris can both read and is very smart. You simply can’t do what Chris does without being a highly intelligent, highly capable individual. Additionally, it’s said that Chris has read Levi-Strauss as part of the New York mission since the BSAA had been tailing Arias for a while and he’d owned various Levi-Strauss novels. So… Chris can’t read sheet music but he can definitely read books.
4. Leon withholding the chip from Claire in Infinite Darkness– I think this one mostly comes from the lack of media literacy/people not paying close enough attention to the plot, but Leon actually had a very good reason for doing what he did. Earlier in the series, he tells Shen-Mei that if she releases the information from the chip, she’ll have every agent on her. The same would apply to Claire. The running theme with Claire and Leon in ID is him trying to protect her; “when are you going to stop treating me like a kid?” “probably never”. He’s not trying to be a dick or a “government bootlicker” (which is such a ridiculous take anyway considering he’s there against his will), like the director of the series outright said he was doing it to protect her.
5. Leon’s a womanizer– Leon would have to “get bitches” in order to actually be a womanizer haha. A lot of Leon’s ladies’ man image was created by the fandom due to his sex appeal. In terms of what’s actually shown on screen and what Capcom has divulged in interviews and such, Leon’s a loser. He’s awkward in an endearing way. He doesn’t have a whole lot of success in the romance department and that’s how it was intended to be. So he’s not a jealous womanizing cereal cheater like what you see on tik tok sometimes, that’s just newer fans having fun haha.
i have the headcanon that chris is book smarts. but not street or relationship smart (outside of familial and platonic) so sometimes in things that i write i will have him be so confused over something that would probably be obvious but he’s just…confused (which ig makes no sense to others but it does to me bc thats how i am)
and i firmly believe that leon will flirt but can’t pull shit. like my oc tiffany? mans is so goddamn confused how tf he got her. every fic i will ever write where leon is the s/o, mans will be so confused how he pulled them
